Hey. Yea i made this account when i first bought my 2 baby red oscars in april. In this time i have seen them grow well over double maybe even triple there size. One is slightly bigger than the other and i can see that iy is more dominant. So anyways i come home today and went to go feed them. I noticed the smaller one laying on the ground not coming up for a feed.(like they usuLly do.....when ever i walk past). I take a closer look. And to my horror. I see large chunks taken out of the fish. Scales ar gone. It looks like sum1 has pikked it up and scraped it along the concrete. Fins tattered. :'( . Bullied to death . From minor conflict to this. This sucks

Hi, welcome

Sorry about the fish. Cichlids are like that, sounds like your remaining oscar will probably want a tank to itself from here on.

Hi!

sorry to hear about your situation. I only have one O because I wouldn't be able to handle losing one of the little buggers to a fish fight. I'm happy with just one :) . That said, I have read many threads about people losing O's to aggression issues in a tank with more then one. Most of them want to go buy a new one to try and replace the old one. I would advise you save yourself some trouble and avoid doing that, I really haven't read about much success with it. Just enjoy the one you have, and He's probably happier now anyways.

How big is the tank?

Welcome to the site but sorry to read what happened to your O.
Sadly its just the way they are, ok one minute and nasty killers the next. Don`t risk adding another one unless you have a back up plan in case things turn nasty.

yep... this does happen with O's, sometimes we're lucky and have a spare tank that can be used to re-house them before the aggression gets really bad, sometimes it happens so fast there's not much that can be done.

Hello & welcome, sorry about your O mate. Sad to say it can be part of keeping Oscars.
