Luckily my friend will give her tank for free.. :D just need to clean them so it will be clear..

just few questions..

1. is it ok that i use a 3 way pack (customize filter) Biological Foam Topmost layer, anti-amonia beads with bio foam, and bio balls (plastic looklike) on bottom layer). Additional 2 undergravel filters

2. which is which,. fine sand or colored pebbles? (my wife wants a fine sand but my fish wants to eat sinking feeds, im afraid to use fine sand for my o'z to swallow some sand..) do i trained my fish to eat float ones? or do i use colorred pebbles?

3. is it ok to use some glass solutions to clean my tank before setting it up? like dishwashing solution (feels good on glass) or glass cleaner?..

i need opinions.. Im afraid to loose this baby

Thank you in advance

- yes, use the same filter on your new tank and your good to go straight away, transfer some of the water to the new tank and top up with fresh treated, like a water change.

2 - you can use sand and it wont do any damage to the O at all. They will eat any type of pellet dont worry.

3 - I would use some water or vinigar and scrub it, dont use chemcials if you can help it.

I agree with Ben. And as for sand or gravel its a personal preference I prefer gravel because it does not show dirt as bad and I find it easier to gravel vac than sand

It the driftwood has not been soaked for 3 months, then it will turn the water of your aquarium a tea color.

Use java moss or java fern.

Yes driftwood will turn the water yellow if not soaked long enough even boiling it a dozen times won't pull all the tannins out. When it comes to driftwood I prefer the fiberglass reproductions.

I'd caution you against using sand. I've used sand in both my 125 Gallon and my 55 Gallon. I hated it so much, I swapped it out months later.

If you have hang on back filters, it annihilates your impellers. If you have canister filters, it clogs the crap out of your media and water flow, and can also annihilate your impellers. Meaning you have to clean your canisters more often.

Stick with a fine gravel.

As far as plants go, I agree with Rocksor. Java Fern or Moss. I'm a moss guy because my silver dollars mow down anything other than it. But if you don't have any herbivores you're good to go. They grow in any light conditions.
