TOPIC: GT jumped out

GT jumped out 9 months 1 week ago #260313

So this morning I woke up and found my female GT on the floor, she must have been out there for a few hours since she was all dried up, and there was this yellow stuff around her, I tried putting her back in the water and having water run through her gills but that did not work. she was in a 30gallon plastic container with the male while I got the 320 gallon tank up and running, I supplied them with air, a heater, and did daily water changes.

Maybe she was too stressed and so she just jumped out.

she was in here

I should have put a lid or something over the top....she was the first fish I ever had, my first fish to sucessfully breed, and also the first one to die.

People may say "It's just a fish" but once you get attached to them they become something more

*RIP little stunted green terror that brought me so much joy*

 :(

Sorry, dude. My Dovii jumped out of his tank a few months ago. I feel ya.
WATER CHANGES ARE THE LIFEBLOOD OF THIS HOBBY. IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE SO OR SIMPLY DON'T FEEL LIKE DOING THEM, SELL YOUR AQUARIUM & FIND ANOTHER HOBBY, AS YOU WILL FAIL MISERABLY.

I'm sorry about your fish :(

They're just as much a pet as any dog or cat, it hurts just as much when they go.

I lost many fish who jumped outside the tank and I know how it feels, I thought green terrors wouldn't jump, you proved me wrong, yesterday I put back the lid to my aquarium :)

I had a clown loach do that last year. Jumped out the back side behind the stand. I thought he was just hiding out in one of the boats that was in that tank. Found him several months later when I had to move the tank around. :(

Also had a silver dollar try to jump. landed on top of the light fixture. Luckly my wife heard all the racket in the tank and flipped him back in the water.

well I am not the one to give lessons here, have lost a pleco a platty a betta an oscar a molly and three zebra danio that jumped outside their tank.....
I have a swordtail male that jumped outside the tank twice, he seems ti be extremely lucky since twice my GF saw him and rescued him.
Plecos tend to jump when water quality starts dropping they think they are in a swamp where water is drying they jump looking for better water, I guess many other fish do the same
