My and my wife are going to a pond that has hundreds of carp.
But in addition, they have catfish and Siberian Sturgeons.

Now i need to know what those sturgeons eat and what will be the best way to catch them?
I am allowed to feed pellets, small boilies, maggots, mealworms, corn etc. but i really don't know what i should use on my hair.

I am allowed to drop in 500 grams of pelletfood per day-part, but I'm noyt sure if i want to do that.
Catfish catching will be my first time too, but if it smells BAD, catfish will grab the food.
SOOOOOOo, please, can someone give me some pointers?
The strurgeons are upto 25 Kilo's, so that's quite big, but my main goal is catching a catfish, of course.

If any of you have expierience in catching these fish, please tell me what i can use best.
Any help is appreciated. :) :) :)

Idk about catfish where you are, but in my experience they will eat just about anything, I've caught them on a bar of soap, no joke. make sure your bait is big enough to be a good meal for a nice cat, but not alive enough to be hard to eat. Cat fish are usually lazy opportunistic eater's.

The pond has put restrictions on what you can use as bait.
Small boilies, like hemp boilies, smell bad and were adviced by a friend, with a bunch of mealworms attached to the hair.
My idea was using octopus or shrimp boilies, cuz'they make me gag from the smell...

It's a shame i cannot just put a piece of rotting flesh on my hair.
That would work.
But all info on catching sturgeons is welcome.
If you look at the picturesssssssss, amazing! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

not sure what do you mean about hair.... i am noob on terms...
but if it is a hook and line, you can catch the catfish using fake lure..
wrapping the hook with aluminum foil will do the job...

Why would you put dead flesh on your hair ?

Yea I think he mean's hook and line. Cat's will hit any kind of dead fish. Here's my best method for catching them. Use a circle hook with at 3' leader and a slip weight. Bait it with some dead fish, or squid, or what ever you are using. Toss it out to where ever you think they are, I usually cast to the center of the canal I fish in. loosen your drag to the point where you can easily pull out line with no resistance, and just wait. Eventually you will hear the tick tick tick of your drag feeding out line. When you do, just start tightening the drag, fish on. They will hook them-self's for you.

I fish with a standard carp rig.
It's a hook with a "hair" that runs past the hook.
You put the bait on the hair, and the carp will hook itself.

Thanx, Gpfifer!

Ok, I'm back again, after a long weekend of chilling and relaxing, and of course fishing.
I went to to local bait shop and they had some new brand of hookbaits, boilies, fish attractant fluid and fish meal.

And i made my first rod ready, tossed it in, and had an immediate run, and lost all of my rig...
So i made 2 rods ready and just put them into the water, at 6 foot out into the water.
Within 2 minutes my wife and I had a run on the line and caught 2 sturgeons!

And that was only the beginning, the runs didn't stop, until we had caught 30 sturgeons!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

And surely my wife caught the biggest Sturgeon of hem all...

But IMO the white Sturgeon was the most impressive i caught:

That is besides the completely black one i caught:

There's a lot more pics, but i don't want this thread to become boring, but I CAUGHT MY FIRST CATFISH EVER!!!!
This was one of the best moments of that day, and i was so thrilled...but i guess the pics show that allright! :)

So, this was a day to remember, and we will remember for a very long time! :) :)

Thanx for watching! :) :) :)
