wiksta created a new topic Breeding mollys for feeders in the forum.Since i don't buy my oscar feeders anymore, i thought it would be cool to breed some feeders myself. I have a 40g that's lightly planted, mostly live plants. There's a pleco and a cross between a parrot and a convict (i had the parents). Hes super aggressive to the pleco and anyone that approaches the tank but he doesn't bother the molly's. Snaps at them a little, never hurt one tho. Oh and a silver dollar i'm beefing up for the 180g. I had 3 molly's and now i have 8, 5-6 are females i think.
Any thing i can do to entice breeding? What do the eggs look like? Is there an easier fish to do this with? Anything helps guys. Ill get a pic and vid up tomorrow.
Thanks!

wiksta created a new topic Softened Water/ Well Water in the forum.I have a question. I have always used hard water in my tanks. I relocated my oscar a year ago and this house has softened water. I have always used the tap that's outside the house that doesn't run through the softener. The only problem is that the water temp is usually a good amount colder than the tank and if i do a large water change it drops the temp around 2 degrees.
So my question, does it matter if i start using soft water? It would make it possible to match the water temp of the tank. Does it affect the fish in any way?
Also we just got a well installed a few months ago. Is it ok to use the well water once it clears up? This would def help the water bill for maintaining a 180g!
