  • Vann2003 created a new topic "growing" goldfish to feed to my O in the forum.
I've got a 10 gallon tank I would like to use to raise feeder fish in to give to my o as a treat. Any advice on how to get started? Thanks!

  • Vann2003 created a new topic just have a couple questions in the forum.
Ok, I know this sounds silly, but can a fish choke on food that is too big for it? Fed my oscars this morning, and when I thought they were distracted eating their own food, I threw in some algae wafers for my pleco. Right away, my tiger oscar "Dan" swam over, and grabbed an algae disc, sucked the thing in whole, then he was very obviously struggling to get it back out and it wouldn't come out. Eventually he got it out in little pieces and started eating his own food again. Is this something I should worry about with him still being very little? Also, I have never seen a timid oscar, but my albino oscar just hides in a log all the time, until it is feeding time. The tiger oscar does not pick on it that I have seen, I don't know what the deal is. I've had them about 2 weeks now. The albino oscar "Iris" comes out, grabs a few pieces of food, heads for the log, and only comes out to grab a few more. Is this normal? They're both small, only about 3 inches long right now, but Iris is kinda skinny, definitely the smaller of the two.

  • Vann2003 created a new topic Ready for a new Oscar-advice please! in the forum.
I've got my tank running, been about two weeks. All levels are where they should be. The only thing in the tank now is a huge pleco. Should I start the fish in a small tank or can I start it right into my large tank?

  • Vann2003 created a new topic Moving an Oscar--HELP! in the forum.
I am moving to an upstairs apartment, is there anything I can put under my 90 gallon tank to help disperse the weight more evenly on the floor? Also what is the best way to move my O? He is about 5 years old and pretty good size. I am only moving about 10 or so miles from where I am at now. I have a 29 gallon I can keep him in with water from his tank until the tank is reset and water temperature and all that is where it needs to be. Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated!
