lpaskos created the topic: My Oscar appears to have developed a tumour of sorts

Good morning
I've just registered and need some early advice please.
My Oscar (Owen Oombulgarri) has been sitting at the top of the surface for the last 30 hours and have just noticed a lump/tumour under his belly. His left side is also distended and Owen is labouring with his breath.
I have contacted a fish doctor but cannot come to see until tomorrow.

I have done a water change and the tank is well aerated.
I do have catfish in the tank - all get on well
I have taken 3 photos but cannot insert??

Any advice/diagnosis greatly appreciated

Welcome to our little community.

Okay, first in his first, how big is your aquarium and what type of filter are you using?

Have you tested the water for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and pH? If you've got a veterinary surgeon coming to see you then these are the questions he's going to want to know. If you haven't got any means to test the water then really it's hard to know what's going on because water quality can often be the cause of illness in fish.

If you go to www.photobucket.com you can upload photos and put them on the forum for us to see.

Until you can put some photos on the forum we can't really ascertain what's going on. However, it is important that you test the water properly.

Just another question, has the fish eaten anything in the last 30 hours?

I may not always be right, but I am always the BOSS :-)

The tank holds approx. 225Litres
There are 2 filters an EHEIM Filter that sits under the tank and a small foam filter in the tank.
I had a fish doctor attend last nite and he checked the water - a slight rise in Ammonia but all else tested normal.
He took a sample and looked under the microscope - suggests either a tumour or constipation.
He added Sea Salt, Vitamin C /Kanapex?
Owen hasn't eaten for the last 48 hours - The Fish Doctor also advised to try green peas which I added two into the tank this morning but not eaten

There's been no change
Followup treatment advice is to add Vitamin C in 2 days and then weekly for 4 weeks along with Sea Salt
I've uploaded 3 photos I think
thankyou again for responding to me
