I wouldn't worry too much, fish can go for a very very long time about food and they won't come to any harm. Healthy Oscars will not starve themselves to death.

Try other foods and find something that he will eat. If he's not going to eat those type of pallets after being starved for a week is not really any point in getting into a stand-off because you'll probably lose.

Have a look in the freezer cabinet at your fish store, you'll probably find lots of healthy foods the

lol, not weird at all. Its quite common for any cichlid to turn off his regular feed. He may like any quality pellet. Northfin, NewLifeSpectrum,Omega1, Dainichi are some good brands. You are right in that you don't want to get him hooked on any one thing. Oscar can be a stubborn cuss, and it may require some will power on your part to get him on something else. Freeze drieds offer a nice treat, generally high in protein. Try some krill, shrimp, tubifex worms. Live earthworms and crickets are usually a hit. Try some fruit and veg pieces. A varied diet is best in the long run. Don't worry that he may not eat for a few days or even a couple weeks. A healthy fish wont starve itself, it will eat what you offer eventually.

Good that he is eating again. Its still a good path forward to have a varied diet. Skip frozen food, its high percentage moisture, low percent protein. Freeze dried is the way to go for treats. Omega1 has a decent selection of FD food
