Just got 2 tiger Oscars about a week ago. 2-3 inches long. 1 pleco. The Oscars seemed to turn from black to gray as soon as I put them in the tank but acting normal. Last night I noticed one of the Oscars staying near the bottom and not eating. Now he has a thick white string thing hanging from him. Any suggestions? What is it? Cure?

White stringy poo is a sign of parasite infection. There are a host of parasite meds available. Seachem Paraguard is fairly common and generally easy to get. Question though.. Is the tank big enough for 2 Oscars and pleco? Even small fish need decent space. Was the tank and filter system cycled before you added fish? Do you have readings for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate? Meds wont work in water with those toxins present. Ammonia and nitrite need to be zero. Nitrate less than 20ppm

55 gallon tank. i will upgrade when they get big to a 125 gallon. i tested the water with the api master kit and the water is fine. i just put in the seachem paraguard so hopefully that works. the white poo or whatever that thing is, is still hanging from him. he's just hanging at the bottom under a rock not swimming.
